Yorkshire Artist’s ‘Paint a Masterpiece and Win a Prize’ Competition:

Browns Gallery, in conjunction with Stephen Smiths Garden Centre and the Wharfedale and Airedale Observer would like to invite you to take part in a new Art Exhibition and Competition to be held October/November 2008. All completed entries to be offered for sale at the Gallery for a two week period; 28^th October to 11^th November, giving excellent exposure opportunities to talented, local artists. Due to limited space; the applications will be accepted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so to secure your space, read through the information below and get your form filled in today!

Competition Guidelines:

Subject:

In a two dimensional medium of your choice, create your own interpretation of a work by one of the following ‘Old Masters’:

Monet                             Picasso

Degas                             Van Gogh

Eligibility:

The competition is divided into two categories; Under 18 years (up to 25 places) and 18 years and over (up to 60 places), all entries must be offered for sale within the gallery for a two week period from 28^th October to 11^th November. The Artist may set the price of the work and a commission of 25% will be levied on the sale price along with VAT. Each individual may enter one piece of work only, which should not exceed 20x16 inches.

Display Requirements:

Artwork should be delivered to the Gallery Framed and ready to hang by no later than 26^th October. Browns Gallery are happy to offer framing at a third off list price on all ‘Red Spot’ mouldings. Should you require this service, items to be framed must reach us by 7^th October.

Prizes:

Prizes will be awarded to the winner and the two runners up of each category in the form of vouchers for Stephen Smiths Art and Craft department. The two winners will, in addition have their photo taken with their artwork for the local paper. Judging will take place before the start of the exhibition and the winning pieces will be marked. There will be three judges on the panel; one from each of the sponsors. The Judges decision is final.

1^st Prize: £250 worth of vouchers

2^nd Prize: £75 worth of vouchers

3^rd Prize: £50 worth of vouchers
