Born in 1965, Pam Leach
studied Genetics and Cell Biology at Manchester University, subsequently
entering the teaching profession, which she continues today in a part time
capacity. She has a deep appreciation of the natural world, and a love of scenic
countryside, fostered by an upbringing in North Wales. Photography has been a
hobby for many years, and recently, Pam studied Photography and Digital Imaging
at Harrogate College, taking her interest to a further level. She is fascinated
by landscapes and has been exploring the boundaries between photography and fine
art within this genre. Her impressionistic style, evident in this set of limited
edition prints, involves a carefully controlled horizontal shift of the camera
during the exposure. This serves to blend the rich tapestry of colours into
horizontal bands, and is reminiscent of looking out at a distant seascape.
Living in Burley-in-Wharfedale, Ilkley Moor is her local walking ground and
inspiration for many of her images.
